St Lucia Distillers 1931
1931 celebrates the inauguration of a new distillery in February 1931 in the Mabouya Valley, near Dennery, in St. Lucia. The Distillery was founded by Denis Barnard and produced rum until 1972 when St. Lucia Distillers was formed out of the merging of the Dennery distillery and the Roseau Distillery. 1931 is matured in American white oak casks - Jim Beam, Jack Daniels and Buffalo Trace and Port casks, the rums were then blended and left to marry in American oak for a further three months.
TASTING NOTES: Deep mahogany core with vibrant brown rim. Full nose of sweet honeyed fruit with hints of chocolate and tobacco. Good oak integration with vanilla tones. On the palate dry at first then opens up to display great depth and complexity. Concentrated with steeped raisins fruit, vanilla and a hint of roasted nuts. Balanced and an incredibly long finish.
